This image was made as a sequel to the InCh WoRm image made a few months ago. It features the same cartoon styling and my favorite underwater special effects. The image is a purely Blender and features exclusive proceedural textures and the animation effects of the CVS 2.4 Test Build.

InCh WoRm: Scared | Posted: 2005-12-04 21:30:06
This is the sequel to the InCh Worm image featuring the same cute character. If you look closely at the image the worm has the classic "it's all over for me" look as the bird in the background comes in for the early bird special! Of course the image was designed with Blender.

This was a cartoon modelling exercise which turned into a full fledged project with impressive results. The entire scene was incredibly complex when finished. Complete with full modelled branches and high resolution raytracing via Blender's built in renderer. This is the original to the InCh WoRm: Scared.

Timeless | Posted: 2005-11-02 19:43:10
This was the first image to recieve wide accolade when it was admitted into the Blender Art Gallery Archives in February 2005. It started out as a WMC but after the impressive results of the HDR maps via Yafray's renderer and Blender's Zblur plugin, the image acquired a style of it's own and the result was a time piece submerged in a brook!

Preparation for Supper | Posted: 2005-11-02 16:13:06
This image was the image that defined our previous studio, GlassWorks Images. The scene, however intriguing, is very simple, but the effect is grand. The image was rendered with Yafray and uses HDR Maps and DOF blur to create the realistic effect of glass. Modelled with Blender.

Modern Living | Posted: 2005-11-02 19:42:15
This was my second serious project using Blender. Modelled after an image from a magazine the results were quite interesting! The normal mapped rug, the wood floor texture, and the books have been permanent additions to the modelling library!

Focus | Posted: 2005-11-02 19:42:46
This was a commercial project proposal which was never submitted. It was originally designed for a submittion into the Blanco National Bank Centennial Artwork Contest. Although this image didn't win, another image submitted took first prize and the artwork was featured in newspaper, on a billboard, and will be remembered for the next hundred years!

Antique Chest | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:26:45
This is was a modelling exercise of an antique chest that is used as decor in my house. It started out as a modelling exercise and like many turned into another. Using Blender's new (at the time) ramp and cartoon shaders I shaded the image to have an artistic "soft" look.

Cactus | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:27:35
This was a winner in a Weekly Image Contest for the category "organic". Modelled after a piece of artwork from my Great Aunt's collection I used meta meshes to create the cactus lobes. The flowers were a simple modification of a script which generates shells! The grasses in the back were generated with FiberGenerator script. Image designed in Blender.

What Lies Beneath | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:28:16
This was a winner in a Weekly Image Contest for the category "underwater". This was rendered with Blender and then the acclaim recieved by the special water effects gave rise to a tutorial on producing advanced volumetric lighting and under water vegetation.

Mini Cooper | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:30:07
This was my first official CG rendered image ever. It was a test of my skills as a 3D artist. Although I probably didn't pass by contemporary standards it passed for me and continues to be one of my favorite images. It was an experiment with Blender's new (at the time) raytracing.

Curbside | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:30:48
Curbside was a test of simplicity and a design using primitives. It was originally designed for Blender but this image was rendered with Yafray and features 16 OSA, 16 AO, and Yafray Depth of Field (DOF) - this resulted in over 2 hours render times. Needless to say this test didn't get too far. Still, it's one of my favorites!

Still Life: Desktop | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:31:15
One of our favorite types of art is the Still Life style and so we rendered a detailed version of a simple desk. Using soft shadows by way of area lights and the reflectio-only models were borrowed from another scene The image in the picture frame is a commercial design IDS did for the Blanco National Bank, the same design featured on a billboard! Rendered and modeled with Blender.

Distant Hills | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:32:08
This was a re-design of an image by the talented Lee Hauffenden. Originally designed as simple hills with water I updated it with more hills and replaced the water with sand. The sky is a mix of textures and particles and the geese were added for purpose. Made with Blender.

This was an image designed for a Weekly Image Contest for the topic "locker". As an inspired twist I made a field of lockers underwater which created the images title. Just a humerous joke but with interesting results! Made with Blender.

Abstract: Love | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:34:44
I was in a rut one day and came across an interesting tutorial on Blenderman which got me thinking of abstract art and so I decided to create a Valentine Tribute (it was February 14th) to all the young and old lovers out there! Halos and glow were both sequenced and post production. Made with Blender.

Abstract: Thistle | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:35:05
The original in the Abstract duo! These abstract meshes were made with a python script for shells but were deformed and at the perspective looked to me like thistle flowers and so the picture was born. Ramp shaders and glass materials were applied to create this interesting piece of art. Made with Blender.

This was a 3D render of a pen for a Monthly Modelling Competition. The model was a highly detailed mesh with only a simple texture for color the rest of the bumps and features were completely modelled. Modelled with Blender and rendered with Yafray.

Still In Motion | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:36:52
This was, I believe, my second CG image and it was a test of Motion Blur and at the time several people were doing chess tables so I decided to change it up and do a pool table, which ironically started another short lived fad. Alot of fun with scene set up and materials and the long render was in my opinion worth it, however, I have since learned far better methods of creating the same effects of motion. Made with Blender.

Exploring the Depths | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:37:48
I was working on a Weekly Image Contest at the same time that I was working on a the game "Project UnderWater" and so this came together. Using only proceedural textures this was the first image to create caustics that looked more like caustics than voronoi proceedurals! The halos from the submarine lights were forgotten on a hidden layer and never rendered. Made with Blender.

A Land From Another Time | Posted: 2005-11-04 17:38:44
This image was another spin off of the "by Design" series of images made with Terragen. This was just a canyon effect with mist. The over all results reminded me of a land from another time! More for the fun of it than anything else.
